International Academics for West Papua (IAWP) is deeply concerned by reports that white phosphorus, a prohibited chemical weapon, has been used by the Indonesian military on civilians in West Papua.

We, members of the International Academics for West Papua network, are concerned about the potential for escalation of the conflict between West Papuans and the Indonesian state, following reports of increased violence in the past few days.
The European branch of the International Academics for West Papua is set to launch in mid-November at the British Houses of Parliament . The branch will be launched during an introductory meeting of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on West Papua.

The International Academics for West Papua network officially launched in the Australia-Pacific region on September 1 at the University of Sydney’s conference, ‘Beyond the Pacific: West Papua on the World Stage’, hosted by the West Papua Project.

IAWP will be launched in Australia at the conference, ‘Beyond the Pacific: West Papua on the World Stage’, hosted by the West Papua Project at the Department of Peace and Conflict Studies at the University.
